SEWCIAL

Take 8 creative and skilled women, 8 jam jars and the concept of voids,
add to that the talented Kathleen Murphy aka Murgatroyd & Bean's
and you have the Sewcial!
I am so pleased to have this concept driven workshop at the yard:ARTspace.
Everyone worked so hard and this is certainly not a fluffy sewing workshop,
Everyone was pushed, gently, to think out of the box and into the jam jar ,
expand boundaries,
and create interesting pieces involving stitch.
Kathleen was there to help,
advise,
and above all inspire.
There was an amazing energy in the yard.
You can be part of this unique stitching experience.
Kathleen is back at the yard:ARTspace on 8 September for another Sewcial, but book soon, places are going already.

MY WALK TO WORK

I am lucky enough to have 2 places to work. And this morning it is the shed in my garden.
I shared my garden with this little chap. I don't get many birds visitors, which is why it really lifts my spirits when I do.
Walking to work is becoming thrilling, as I stroll to the shed I can see spring
pushing it's way through.
Organised chaos honestly, I know where almost everything is!
Today I am constructing the next installation project for Echos in Enamel, the Arts Council Funded project I am doing with the Museum in the Park, Stroud
Not enamel this time, but printed feathers. I am looking at the letters sent to and fro from home to the front during the First World War.
I think it will be a soft, emotional piece.
It is packed and ready to install at the Museum at the end of March.

I am happy to post you a leaflet, cost £6 for one or £10 for both, to include P&P, please let me have your address and as soon as I have the payment I will get it into the post.

A PASSION FOR PRINTMAKING

I have once again set myself the challenge of a print a month in 2017,
here I am working on February's offering. I do find myself rarely straying from the original drawing.
The plate is grey board with glue and carborundum giving me a variety of tones.
Hot off the press and
hanging to dry at the yard:ARTspace
Here is the completed collagraph with the odd touch of water colour.
I have been enjoying teaching the 10 week courses at the yard, we have been exploring a dry point technique and
encouraging everyone to make a couple of plates that can be printed together.
The dry point plate is made from file cover plastic and self adhesive tapes and shapes. Here I have printed with a rusted tissue paper chine collee.
A super flexible technique that can be printed with a collagraph back ground.
the yard:ARTspace is half way through it's 10 week term, if you would like to join the collagraph course take a look at the website for details, www.theyardartspace.com
